Casual Waste Services Operative Jobs – Information Event

Dumfries and Galloway Waste Management Service will be hosting any open day on Thursday the 30th of March at 13:00 at Dumfries and Galloway Council Offices, Cargen Tower, Dumfries, DG2 8PN.  Attendees should report to the reception at 13:00.   There will be an information session about the roles and responsibilities of the job and a demonstration of the fleet of vehicles and resources used as part of the role. Casual Waste Services Operative Job Role & Responsibilities

 

The job is to deliver a wide variety of frontline services within the waste department. Successful candidates are expected to carry out various duties as instructed by the waste services supervisor. These duties include:

 

  • Refuse collections from domestic & commercial properties.
  • Recycling collections from domestic & commercial properties
  • Waste food collections from domestic & commercial properties
  • Uplift of Fly-Tipping
  • Uplift of road kill.
  • Uplift of bulky/white good items.
  • Maintenance of refuse/recycling bins
  • Any other reasonable tasks as per waste supervisor’s instruction. (for example, this could be litter picking or in winter clearing snow from pavements.)
  • Completion of appropriate paperwork i.e., monthly timesheet.
  • Participation in compulsory training and monthly toolbox talks.
  • Anyone with a licence is expected to drive council vehicles when necessary.

 

All roles will involve outside working and working as part of a team.
