Project Search

The project allows interns total immersion within the workplace whereby they participate in three workplace rotation to explore a variety of job and career paths. Individuals achieve specific transferrable work skills necessary for progression into paid employment

Working in partnership between DG First, who supply the work placement, Dumfries and Galloway College, who provide a tutor and Employability Skills Service who support interns in their placements, students will gain the skills they require for employment and work towards achieving the Dumfries and Galloway Employability Award.

Project SEARCH brings together education, training and work skills in a genuine working environment.

Students also benefit by gaining increased independence, confidence and self-esteem, and participate in career exploration, work interviews and employment skills, increasing their overall level of ability for job seeking and the likelihood of finding and keeping a permanent position.

• Receive work-based individual instruction, coaching, support and feedback from the instructor, job coach and host service managers and mentors.

• A seamless approach to transition that develops vital adult skills

• Partnership between Education, Dumfries and Galloway College and Dumfries and Galloway Council ensures a whole life approach to supporting young people in transition.
